This Trek takes you right into the breathtakingly beautiful mountain range of the Vilcanota. You get to see enormous snow-capped peaks, clear glacier lakes and Alpacas and Lamas grazing along the steep slopes. In only four days you will be able to experience one of the most beautiful and secluded regions of Peru.
Day 1: Drive towards the Cordillera Vilcanota / hiking time 3 hours
Day 2: Snow-capped mountain peaks above the Chulluñpiqoc Lake / hiking time 5 hours
Day 3: Lamas and Alpacas follow us to the Laguna Comercocha / hiking time 6 hours
Day 4: Descent to the town of Pacchanta and its hot springs return Cusco / hiking time 2 hours
With your private guide and transport you head out of Cusco, passing the small town of Ocongate until you reach Tinqui where the crew will set up the first camp site above the town. Once settled at the camps site, you will head out for your first short hike to acclimatize yourself. The glaciers of the Vilcanota glow in the afternoon light. After enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by our crew, you can get comfortable in you spacious tent. We supply hot water to heat up your sleeping bag. Today´s hike will take you across high plains further towards the mountains of the Vilcanota. Lamas and Alpacas will be grazing all along the way. In the afternoon you will reach one f the most beautiful and deserted camp sites at the Chulluñpiqoc-Cocha (Cocha means lake). Here you will see the majestic Ausangate reflected in the quiet lagoon. You will traverse the valley of Pacchanta and hike towards the Comerchocha. Along the path are plenty of glacier lakes and beautiful view points. The Otorongo and the Ninaparaco lake glitter in the sunlight. Finally you reach the lake Comercocha where the crew has already set up camp. (camp site at 15.000 feet / hiking time 6 hours / climb of about 1.850 feet / descent of about 1.720 feet. Accommodation: tent)
For your last day you will descent for about 1,5 hours to the hot springs of Pacchanta where you can enjoy a hot bath with a view of the mountain range. Afterwards your private transport will take you back to Cusco (about a 4 hour drive)
